Now, it’s time for Invest in Arizona and anyone else who was involved in drafting this initiative to accept the fact that it is unconstitutional.

The people have already spoken. Now, it’s up to the Maricopa County Superior Court to do what’s right by deciding in favor of every Arizona taxpayer.

After railing against a historic $1.8 billion tax cut that will benefit all Arizona taxpayers and small businesses, Democrats voted in favor of SB1124.

These tax cuts alone instantly take Arizona from ranking 13th in economic outlook (the worst Arizona has ever received) to 3rd.

The legislature is on the cusp of cutting taxes. With historic levels of cash sitting in the state coffers, returning this money to taxpayers makes sense.

When government enjoys a surplus, they can either spend it, save it, or return it to taxpayers. Arizona has already checked off the first two options.

Taxpayers are overpaying in taxes. And returning some of their hard-earned money is long overdue.

With tax increase after tax increase and revenue windfalls from the state, the city of Phoenix does not have a revenue problem, it has a spending problem.

That means that in addition to only a dismal fraction of the “relief” going directly to taxpayers, further relief through state tax cuts would be barred.

It’s not every day that an innovative tax reform proposal also results in exposing one of the biggest political lies of the year.

The last two years, lawmakers attempted to increase the gas tax but were met with hostility from voters. They still haven’t learned their lesson.

Because bad ideas never die as long as there are lobbyists hired to push them, this year the Low Income Housing Tax Credit bill is back again.
